Boats and Tackle
Our Fleet
Our vessels are some of the newest and fastest in the Seward fishing charter fleet. This means we spend less time traveling and more time fishing!
We maintain our vessels to the highest possible standard so, on the water, nothing is left to chance. We incurred great expense to modernize our fleet with new and state-of-the-art vessels, adding new boats in 2015 and again for 2018. We pride ourselves in making our passengers feel comfortable on the water and that starts with vessels that are safe, clean, and well maintained
When venturing out to sea, safety is our top priority. All of our boats are outfitted with a full suite of safety and life-saving equipment. In addition to general safety gear such as life jackets, flares, and fire extinguishers this includes a self-deploying life raft, EPIRB, multiple VHF radios, and 3D surface radar.
To maximize fishing success our vessels are each equipped with the latest Raymarine or Simrad GPS navigation/chart plotting systems and a depth-penetrating 1000W color fish finders. These powerful systems allow us, even at cruising speeds, to see detailed views of the contour on the seafloor. This is a distinct advantage as we can mark uncharted fish-holding structures and return to their exact location at any time.
M/V Pursuit
M/V Pursuit
The Pursuit is our flagship vessel which was constructed in the spring of 2005 by Fibercraft Inc. She is 36 feet and has the capacity to comfortably carry 10 passengers plus a crew of two. This is a perfect boat for fishing groups that are too big for a 6-pack boat or individuals who want the additional comfort offered by a larger vessel.
The Pursuit was specifically designed by Capt. Steve to be the finest sport fishing platform on the water. Built on the tough and proven Fibercraft hull, which has long been renowned in Alaskan waters for its fast, smooth ride and seaworthy performance, she will easily cruise at 24 knots. The Pursuit is powered by twin 330hp Volvo D-6 turbo diesel engines that will push her to the fishing grounds in a minimum of time. These aren't the old, loud, smoky diesels of the past. Engineered to meet stringent EPA emission standards, the Volvo D-6 was developed utilizing the latest design in modern diesel engine technology to run smooth, quiet, and smoke free.
Anglers appreciate the vessel's full walk-around fishing deck, which allows ease of fighting fish from any location on the boat. For all weather comfort this vessel has a fully enclosed cabin with a high output cabin heater, comfortable indoor seating for all passengers, a fully enclosed private restroom, and a powerful stereo system to jazz up the ride to and from the fishing grounds. The Pursuit is truly the Cadillac of Seward's fishing charter fleet!
M/V ProFish
M/V ProFish
In 2015 we contracted Bay Welding in Homer to design and build a brand new 30 foot aluminum vessel to replace our previous 28' vessel ProFish-n-Sea. Much the same, the ProFish is custom built for halibut and salmon fishing in Alaskan waters and exemplifies the finest of Alaska fishing charter boats. The ProFish is one of the faster vessels in the fleet allowing it to reach distant fishing grounds with minimum travel time. Twin Suzuki 250 hp. four-stroke outboard motors power this seaworthy vessel. Suzuki four-stroke outboards are renowned for their clean, quiet, smoke-free operation.
Like our other vessels, the ProFish has a full walk-around fishing deck, allowing anglers to easily fight fish from any position on the boat. This is a unique feature for a six-pack vessel, since on most 6-pack boats fishing is confined to the aft deck area. This vessel has a fully enclosed cabin with a stereo and high output cabin heater, comfortable indoor seating for 6 passengers, and a fully enclosed private restroom. The ProFish has a well proven track record of success.
M/V Striker
M/V ProFish
Following in the wake of the ProFish, in 2018 we contracted Bay Welding in Homer, Alaska to build another welded aluminum charter vessel. We were so impressed by the open water performance and fishing capabilities of the ProFish we decided to build her a sister-ship! These boats are custom built for fishing Alaskan waters and are appreciated for their smooth, fast ride. The Striker is powered by twin Yamaha 250 hp. four-stroke outboard motors which are renowned for their reliability and clean, quiet operation.
Like our other vessels, the Striker has a full walk-around fishing deck, allowing anglers to easily fight fish from any position on the boat. The Striker has a fully enclosed heated cabin with comfortable indoor seating for 6 passengers and a private restroom. The Striker is equipped with a full suite of powerful Raymarine fish finding and navigation electronics.
M/V Interceptor
M/V Interceptor
The Interceptor is the fastest vessel in the ProFish-n-Sea fleet. She was constructed in Washington by BAMF Boats in 2012 and carries up to 6 passengers. BAMF Boats are known for their quiet stable ride and blazing speed, which tops out over 40 knots! The Interceptor is fiberglass/Kevlar construction and was designed specifically for charter fishing in remote Alaskan waters. The Interceptor also features a full walk-around deck to spread out the action and make battling active fish a breeze. The Interceptor is powered by twin Suzuki 250hp four-stroke outboards and has an enclosed heated cabin with seating for 6, custom stereo, and private marine head.
Our Fishing Tackle
Our Fishing Tackle
We have outfitted our vessels with the very finest fishing tackle which is perfectly matched to the fish we target. We have kept both experienced and novice anglers in mind and outfitted our boats with tackle that is sensitive, relatively lightweight, and very well proven. We have spared no expense to outfit our vessels with everything needed for a successful day on the water.
The ProFish, Interceptor, and Pursuit are equipped with the finest halibut fishing tackle available including Seeker standup rods matched to Avet HX reels spooled with 80lb Tuff Line XP. These outfits are perfectly suited for tangling with large halibut and lingcod but remain sensitive enough to allow anglers a great fight even with a smaller fish. We also carry specialized G. Loomis and Seeker jigging rods equipped with Avet reels and sensitive spectra braid line. These rigs are light and powerful and come in very handy coaxing large halibut and lingcod to bite the jig!
For salmon we provide lighter weight 15-20 lb. test Seeker rods matched to Penn 965 reels. These setups are perfect for a great battle with feisty silvers but still provide enough backbone to capture a hard charging king. This tackle is on the lighter side, allowing anglers to enjoy the experience of fighting their fish instead of the tackle. Our boats are also equipped with Cannon down-riggers for deep trolling when conditions require. We provide all bait and terminal tackle including sinkers, leaders, hooks, jigs and special lures designed to maximize your success.
